| Elizabeth Lenci-Downs was born in
Virginia, Minnesota within a mosaic of ethnic cultures, surrounded
by woodlands, lakes and the ancient Laurentian Mountains. Her
European heritage enriches her writings and gives force to her
paintings. She has been honored for her work with foreign
students and her efforts against racial discrimination. She is
a graduate of National Louis University and Columbia University with
degrees in history, psychology and education. She lives with her husband, Floyd L. Downs, in Fountain
Hills, Arizona.
When the sun rises over the
Superstition Mountains outside her window Elizabeth will be found at work at
desk or studio easel, where a painting of her grandchild is waiting.
Beside her, a curl of ivory fur with plume tail and brilliant blue eyes
greets visitors, Karuna, their Balinese.
